The Group Chat

There is a Telegram group where the league watches Sunday together, and a bot called Pinbot that keeps the score on it. This page is how you get in.

Join the group

The link opens a join request rather than adding you straight away, so the commissioner still has to let you in. That is deliberate: this page is public and the group is not.

What happens in there

Sundays

Live all afternoon

A pinned, self-updating scoreboard

It updates itself every few minutes, so the pin is always the current score in all six games. On top of that come the moments worth a notification: a lead change, someone posting thirty points, a kicker deciding a game by two. When nothing is happening it says nothing.

Tue and Wed

The reports, first

Results Tuesday, preview Wednesday

Both land in the chat as soon as they are written, with the share image and a link back to this site. If you only want the reports and none of the Sunday noise, mute the chat and read the pinned message.

Around games

Ask it things

Mention it, get a real number

Who is winning, what your score is, how many points you need, who you have left to play. It answers from the league’s real numbers and says so when it does not know. It is not awake around the clock — the commissioner starts it, mostly for games — so an answer can wait until it is next on.

The short version

A commentator, not a chatbot

Pinbot is built on the same numbers as the reports on this site. It reads the league’s live scoring, works out what actually changed, and only then says something. It has no opinions it cannot support with a score.

1pinned scoreboard, always current
24messages on a busy Sunday, fewer on a quiet one
0facts it is allowed to invent

Quiet is the normal state. If the games are dull, it says nothing at all.

House rules

What it will do

  • Anchor every joke to a real number somebody actually scored.
  • Roast the decision, never the person. Starting a player on a bye is fair game; you are not.
  • Give the commissioner the worst of it. He built it, so he is the safest target here.
  • Go quiet for hours when nothing is happening, and get chattier when a game is close.

What it will not do

  • Invent an injury, a trade, or a piece of news to explain a bad afternoon.
  • Call a game over before it is. It checks the real NFL clock first.
  • Post four variations of the same joke. One message per thing that happened.
  • Take instructions from the chat. It reads what you write as football talk, not as orders.
