Drake Maye scored 39.5 on an 18.5 projection, the best performance of the week, a Sunday after he sat on the commissioner's bench. Uriel's 163 was the second-highest score. Tayler's 132.2 would have beaten seven other lineups and is now 0-5.

The awards

Award 01

Unluckiest Loss

Yael
141 points, 8-3 against the field

A lineup rated 100%, the only perfect one in the league: every player who should have started, started. Jahmyr Gibbs scored 37.7 and Jared Goff 28.9. It would have beaten eight other teams, and it drew the one that scored 168.2. Four finals, no rings, and now a perfect Sunday with a loss attached. Potatoe deserves better from this universe.

Award 02

Luckiest Win

Joe
104.5 points, 2-9 against the field

The tenth-best score of the week, and it drew the eleventh. Joe started Roman Wilson at flex, listed out, for 0, with Ollie Gordon II scoring 14.8 on the bench, the same Ollie Gordon II he benched last week for 18. None of it mattered. 5-0, first seed, and the only unbeaten team left.

Award 03

Highest Score

Misa
168.2 points, 11-0 against the field

Three starters over 30: Puka Nacua 37.7, Isaiah Likely 32.4 on a 12.9 projection, and Christian Watson 32.3. Last week RJ Harvey scored 19.3 on Misa's bench. This week he started and scored 0.7, with Jacory Croskey-Merritt's 14.2 on the bench. It cost nothing. Up two seeds to fourth.

Award 04

Player of the Week

Uriel
Drake Maye, 39.5

21 over his projection, the best performance and the biggest overperformance of the week. Last Sunday the commissioner benched Maye's 24.2 for Kirk Cousins. This Sunday he started him, scored 163, and still sat Rhamondre Stevenson's 17.5 behind Cam Skattebo's 7.1, a bench regret for the fifth week running. Up two to fifth. He would like it noted he got the quarterback right once.

Award 05

Nail Biter

Oriol
won by two hundredths

Both teams scored 127.3. Oriol's real total was a fraction higher, and the 2018 champion is 4-1 and third because of it. On the other side, Dan Robot started DeVonta Smith, projected 0, for 0, for the second week in a row, with Matthew Golden's 18.3 on the bench. A bot that lost by two hundredths of a point with an 18.3-point fix on its own roster has no way to know, and that may be the kindest thing about being a bot.

Award 06

Woodshed

Toño
won by 63.6

Last week the spotlight noted that every healthy 49er in this league played for somebody else. This week Toño started the 49ers D/ST, it scored 19, and he won by 63.6 against a team starting Brock Purdy and Christian McCaffrey. Bucky Irving added 31.5 and Tyler Warren 21.4, and the lineup rated 98.8%. Up two to eighth.

Award 07

Lowest Score

Mario
79.9 points, 0-11 against the field

Projected 126.8, scored 79.9. Jordan Love scored 23.3 on the bench behind Brock Purdy's 14.2, and Pat Freiermuth 21.5 on the bench behind Juwan Johnson's 5.6. The best lineup available was 111.5, which would still have lost. Stairway to Seven is now eleventh, with nine weeks to climb four steps.

Award 08

Right Lineup, Wrong Week

Jordi
99.6% of the best lineup

The second-best managed lineup in the league, and 1-10 against the field. CeeDee Lamb was the biggest bust of the week, 2.9 on a 19.1 projection, one Sunday after his 41.3. The one miss was at quarterback: Dak Prescott 12.6, Jalen Hurts on the bench with 13. After three weeks of starting the wrong one, Jordi switched, and the other one won by 0.4.

Award 09

Back To Back

Sam
won by 1.5

The defending champion is on a two-game win streak, and this one ended one of the two unbeaten starts left in the league. Malik Nabers scored 29.1 on a 13.6 projection, which covered T.J. Hockenson's 1.7 at tight end. 2-3, tenth, and one more of these makes the 0-3 start a footnote.

Award 10

Tidy Lineup

Tayler
99% of the best lineup

132.2 points, the fifth-best score of the week, and a lineup that left 1.3 on the bench. Jayden Daniels scored 30.3 and George Pickens 28. The rookie drew Drake Maye's afternoon and the commissioner's 163, and is 0-5 with a lineup that beat seven others. The record will catch up with the decisions.

The closest game in the league

TWO HUNDREDTHS

Every score in these reports is printed to one decimal. This week that was not enough. Oriol and Dan Robot both went into the books at 127.3, and ESPN, which keeps a second decimal, says Oriol scored more.

127.3Oriol's score, and Dan Robot's score, to one decimal
0.02the actual margin in ESPN's unrounded totals
18.3Matthew Golden's points on Dan Robot's bench
16.2Blake Corum's points on Oriol's bench, behind Rome Odunze's 5

Both sides left more than enough on the bench to settle it: Oriol's best lineup was 145.6 and Dan Robot's 146.6, the bot's slightly higher. The difference is that one of them can blame the other. Oriol is 4-1. Dan Robot is 2-3 and still holds the seventh seed, the last one into the playoffs.

What the bench cost

  • Yael set the only perfect lineup, 100%, and lost. Jordi at 99.6% and Tayler at 99% also lost.
  • Mario left the most behind: 31.6 points, a 71.7% lineup, and the lowest score in the league.
  • Two starters scored 0: Roman Wilson for Joe and DeVonta Smith for Dan Robot. Joe won anyway.
  • Misa started RJ Harvey for 0.7 with 14.2 on the bench, and scored 168.2 regardless.

Standing notes

  • Joe is the only unbeaten team, 5-0. Benji and Oriol are 4-1.
  • Uriel, Misa and Toño each climbed two seeds, to fifth, fourth and eighth. Yael, Dan Robot and Mario each fell two, to sixth, seventh and eleventh.
  • The top seven are the same seven as last week, in a different order. Toño in eighth is the first team out.
  • Five teams are 2-3, seeds six through ten, Dan Robot among them. Tayler is 0-5, with this week's 132.2 the best score yet.
