The awards

Award 01

Luckiest Win

Yael
113.6 points, 3-8 against the field

The ninth-best score of the week, which would have lost to eight other lineups, and it drew one of the three it could beat. Ladd McConkey started at wide receiver and scored 0, with Devaughn Vele's 17.4 on the bench. Potatoe is fourth, up two seeds, and after four finals nobody has earned a lucky Sunday more.

Award 02

Unluckiest Loss

Dan Robot
131.8 points, 9-2 against the field

The third-best score of the week, good enough to beat nine of the eleven lineups it was not playing, and it drew the only one that beat everybody. It lost by 5. It will not file a complaint, ask for a recount, or mention it in the group chat, because it is an autodraft bot and has no feelings to hurt. Beep boop.

Award 03

Highest Score

Jordi
136.8 points, 11-0 against the field

Last week Nico Collins was started, projected for zero and scored zero. This week he scored 30.8 on a 15.3 projection, and CeeDee Lamb added 41.3 on 16.9. Jordi also started Jalen Hurts for 13.5 over Dak Prescott's 18.1, the wrong quarterback for the third straight week, and it did not matter once. Up two seeds to eighth.

Award 04

Player of the Week

Benji
Tetairoa McMillan, 45.2

29.4 over his projection, both the best performance and the biggest overperformance of the week. Last week McMillan scored 3.7. Benji also benched Kyle Monangai, who scored 28, to start Emeka Egbuka for 3.3, the biggest single bench regret in the league, and still won, 125.1 to 104.4. His best lineup was 168.6, more than anyone actually scored. 4-0, first seed.

Award 05

Nail Biter

Joe
won by 3.5

The tightest margin on the board, and a lineup rated 92.8%, tied for the best in the league. Joe did bench Ollie Gordon II's 18 for Tre Tucker's 8.4 at flex, which at this margin is the kind of thing you only get to laugh about when you win. 4-0, second seed, two stars and an unbeaten record.

Award 06

Finally

Sam
134.7 points, 10-1 against the field

The defending champion was projected 114.2 and scored 134.7, the second-best score of the week, with Emanuel Wilson on 27.2 against an 11.5 projection. Sam has long held that projections are for nerds, and this week the nerds had him at 114.2. He is 1-3 and still eleventh, but the title defense has a win on the board.

Award 07

Woodshed

Uriel
won by 28.1

The biggest win of the week, built on Bijan Robinson's 27.7 and Chuba Hubbard's 25.9. The commissioner also started Terry McLaurin at wide receiver, projected for 0, and got exactly 0, with Jameson Williams scoring 16.2 on the bench, and sat Drake Maye's 24.2 behind Kirk Cousins at quarterback. That is a bench regret for the fourth Sunday running. He is seventh. Somebody has to say it, and the tool will not.

Award 08

Lost The Seat

Mario
127.5 points, 8-3 against the field

Seventh in week 1, seventh in week 2, seventh in week 3, and this week the fourth-best score in the league, a loss, and ninth. Romeo Doubs scored 23.8 and Alvin Kamara 22.8, both on the bench, and his best lineup was 147.9. Stairway to Seven has come down two steps. The team name suggests he knows the way back up.

Award 09

Lowest Score

Oriol
93.7 points, 0-11 against the field

Last week the first seed and the most points in the league. This week the only lineup that lost to all eleven others. Ja'Marr Chase was the biggest bust of the week, 14.7 under his projection, and Brian Robinson Jr. scored 25.7 on the bench behind J.K. Dobbins' 7.2. The 2018 champion is still 3-1 and third, which is a fine place to have a bad week.

Award 10

Tidy Lineup

Tayler
92.8% of the best lineup

Tied with Joe for the best-managed lineup in the league. The best available was 107, so the rookie got nearly everything there was to get and lost to Yael's luckiest win of the week. The one miss was George Holani's 3 over Kenny Gainwell's 10.7. 0-4, and the decisions are already better than the record.

The injury report

TOÑO AND THE 49ERS

Toño has been telling the group that his fantasy team is going the way of his 49ers, one injury report at a time. The numbers back him up on the paperwork. On the field, his questionable players were the ones who showed up.

3questionable starters, the most of any team: Tee Higgins, Lamar Jackson and DJ Moore
26.7Tee Higgins, questionable, and Toño's top scorer of the week
137.6his best available lineup, higher than any score actually posted this week
3.5the margin he lost by, with Omarion Hampton's 13.3 on the bench

Both of his IR slots are full, and one of them holds a 49er, De'Zhaun Stribling. The 49ers D/ST sat on his bench and scored 3. Meanwhile Brock Purdy, Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey all started for Mario, and George Kittle for the commissioner. The healthy 49ers in this league all play for somebody else. Three losses in a row, tenth seed, and a two-time champion who has earned a week where the injury report is short.

What the bench cost

  • Benji left the most on the bench and won anyway: a best possible lineup of 168.6, against the 125.1 he scored. Toño lost by 3.5 with a best possible lineup of 137.6.
  • Joe and Tayler at 92.8% set the tightest lineups. Benji at 74.2% set the loosest and won anyway.
  • Three managers started a wide receiver who scored 0: Uriel (Terry McLaurin), Yael (Ladd McConkey) and Dan Robot (DeVonta Smith). Two of the three won.
  • Uriel and Jordi both benched a quarterback who outscored their starter: Maye 24.2 over Cousins 20.6, and Prescott 18.1 over Hurts 13.5.

Standing notes

  • Two teams are 4-0: Benji and Joe, neither of whom has a ring. Oriol fell from first to third with his first loss.
  • Uriel and Jordi climbed two seeds each, to seventh and eighth. Mario and Toño fell two each, to ninth and tenth, both outside the seven.
  • Yael rose two to fourth. Misa fell two to sixth.
  • Tayler is the only winless team left, at 0-4. Eight teams sit at 2-2 or 1-3, with ten weeks to sort it out.
